Professional poker has become big business.
Tournaments and purses have been growing steadily for the last twenty years. This year the 2006 World Series of Poker championship is anticipating a payout of over $8 million to the winner in Las Vegas. And those numbers are only growing.
There has been a resurgence in professional poker that’s taking on changes by leaps and bounds. It’s come, in part, because cities and casinos are recruiting tournaments to help their economy. Cities all across the United States and Canada are clamoring for matches in order to create foot traffic or visitors to their place of business. In today’s lifestyle, with so much to do and so many challenges for disposable income, you have to do some spending to get a good return on your investment. It’s just like any entertainment business.
Poker has regained its popularity over the last twenty years. People are going back to the way they thought in the 1950s and 60s. It seems that with all the distractions in the ‘60s like the Vietnam War and the advent of cable television, it wasn’t popular to think poker was neat back then. But it’s come full circle again. People are rediscovering poker.
The boom that poker enjoyed in the ‘90’s was ushered in by businessmen, casinos and city leaders who foresaw the huge economic impact the game could bring them and acted upon that initiative. Poker, more so than being an entertainment activity, is an economic issue that cities need to deal with. For every dollar brought in by professional poker, it is estimated that it turns over approximately seven times in the community. Many sports operators who have conducted surveys claim a city with a major league team stands to gain as much as $400-million in income each year!
The Concept
The creation and formation of new Pro Team Poker leagues with Member Clubs in many cities and towns to exhibit a new and highly exciting form of poker that the American and international sports fan will enjoy.
Why poker?
Poker has enjoyed the reputation of being one of the most popular games in the world! Pro Team Poker players and fans can vary in age from 18 years on up, and being male or female doesn’t matter. Our new system will be governed by tough rules ands regulations that will protect the players, fans and spectators from any wrongdoing.
Is the talent available?
The AAA PTP will draw from a ready pool of players who are available and anxious to participate in our program. There are thousands of poker rooms in casinos around the country. Every year there are only a handful of championship matches around the country. The AAA PTP will solve most of these problems with strict organization and participant rules.
The Association as a whole
Matches in the AAA PTP will be a brand of poker that will spur intensive team competition. The backbone of the Association, however, will be the high level of management cooperation between Member Clubs. AAA PTP Member Club owners will know what to do and how to accomplish their goals because of practices set down by EXPERIENCED team, league and Association operators. Every facet of team operations will be carefully mapped out by league officials, so that no one can veer from everyone’s objective, SUCCESS!
Stability
The AAA PTP’s keystone for success stems from the collective experience of its founders, officials and owners. From them flows the knowledge and skills to organize the Association and promote the interests for everyone’s benefit!
Sports and Business as an Investment
An investment in professional sports is unlike any other. It is a business decision but it is also an investment in people. The people who participate in the sport and the people who support it! Bringing the action of the AAA PTP to your community can be an investment that yields a variety of dividends. Civic pride, the rare opportunity to help develop talent and the return to a community that only professional sports can supply.
The AAA PTP will feature a caliber of participation second to none...emphasizing many NEW innovations (changes long overdue in professional poker) which will speed up matches and make it more exciting and faster moving for the fans.
The Case For A New Poker Association
For the past several years, poker, as it existed under casino management has done well. Attendance is up year after year. Profits are being made. People in large population centers are being treated to a form of sports entertainment at a high cost for an evening. Poker interest has grown. Television ratings are at an all-time high!
So why would a new poker Association be of interest or desire?
Now, more than ever before, it is time for the expansion of professional poker with a style and entertainment value that can be afforded by everyone. And ownership, and the cities and towns with these Member Clubs, will reap the benefits! The very best and most exciting sport in town, poker should heavily emphasize promotions and entertainment values that will benefit everyone.
